Vad är det att vara människa – i sorg, längtan och förvandling? Kvällens program rör sig genom dessa frågor i musik som spänner över sekler och uttryck, där det sakrala möter det samtida.
Från Thomas Tallis Lamentations of Jeremiah, där klagan får en tidlös röst, till Eric Whitacres skildring av Leonardo da Vincis flygdrömmar, öppnas ett landskap där skaparkraft och sårbarhet samexisterar. Verk av bland andra Saunder Choi, Per Drud Nielsen och Michael Betteridge utforskar språk, kropp och medvetande – ofta med humor och skärpa.
Programmet rör sig vidare genom natur och identitet i Anders Edenroths Water och Stephen Chatmans A Magical Machine, liksom personliga berättelser och arrangemang av populärmusik – från Space Oddity till World O World.
Ungdomskören Aarhus U är en blandad ungdomskör med bas i Aarhus domkyrka och består av cirka 45 sångare i åldern 18–25. Kören är en ledande röst i Danmarks ungdomskörliv och rör sig obehindrat mellan klassiskt, samtida, folkmusik och populära uttryck.
Vid European Choir Games 2023 och 2025 blev kören högst poängsatt och vann både Sacred Music och Pop/Jazz. INTERKULTUR rankade 2025 Aarhus U som nummer två i världen. Kören har samarbetat med bland andra The King’s Singers och VOCES8, framträtt i tv, sjungit för H.M. Drottning Margrethe och gästat samtliga danska domkyrkor.
Human, After All
What does it mean to be human – in grief, longing, and transformation? Tonight’s programme explores these questions in music spanning centuries and styles, where the sacred meets the contemporary.
From Thomas Tallis’ Lamentations of Jeremiah, giving timeless voice to sorrow, to Eric Whitacre’s vision of Leonardo da Vinci’s dreams of flight, the programme unfolds a landscape where creativity and vulnerability coexist. Works by Saunder Choi, Per Drud Nielsen, and Michael Betteridge explore language, body, and consciousness – often with wit and precision.
The programme continues through reflections on nature and identity in Anders Edenroth’s Water and Stephen Chatman’s A Magical Machine, alongside personal narratives and arrangements of popular music, from Space Oddity to World O World.
Aarhus U Youth Choir is a mixed ensemble of around 45 singers aged 18–25, based at Aarhus Cathedral. The choir is a leading voice in Denmark’s youth choir scene, known for a genre-crossing repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, folk, and popular music.
At the European Choir Games in 2023 and 2025, the choir was the highest-scoring ensemble, winning both Sacred Music and Pop/Jazz. In 2025, INTERKULTUR ranked Aarhus U second in the world. Collaborations include The King’s Singers and VOCES8, and the choir has appeared on national television, performed for Her Majesty Queen Margrethe, and sung in all Danish cathedrals.
