Step into our scriptorium and discover the art of medieval writing. Surrounded by the authentic atmosphere of a 13th-century building you will learn to write just as scribes did more than 700 years ago.
Guided step by step, you will discover the elegant Gothic script, practise with a feather quill and authentic iron gall ink, and learn fascinating stories about the crafts involved in manuscript production. By the end of the workshop, you will create your own beautifully written medieval love poem to take home.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone who enjoys calm, creative work. No previous knowledge or experience is needed – we provide all materials, including quills, ink, and paper of the highest quality. If you wish, bring a short piece of poetry for inspiration but there will be also heart-warming examples from the past ready for you to copy.
