In the summer of 1361, dramatic battles unfolded on Gotland’s soil. Every three years, reenactors from around the world gather at the Battle of Wisby camp to meticulously and vividly recreate both the battles of Mästerby and the siege outside Visby’s city walls. But the camp itself is just as compelling: a living reconstruction of medieval military life, complete with horses, armour maintenance, cooking, and traditional crafts.
Across twelve guided tours, you’ll meet twelve different experts, each offering their own perspective and area of expertise, from archaeology, intellectual history, and military strategy to medieval dress, craftsmanship, and everyday life. Each tour provides a unique lens through which to deepen your understanding of the 14th century.
Tours are offered in Swedish and English with other languages available upon request.
