The cosmopolitan islands of the Gaelic culture sphere have always had a vibrant, wide tradition of music. The 1300's were no different, and this is the century from which we have the oldest extant harps. Strung with drawn wire, their sound was perfect for churches and noble halls, for calls to action and the procession of the salt to the dinner table.

Öarna i den gaeliska kultursfären har alltid haft en bubblande, energisk och bred musiktradition. Det gällde även under 1300-talet, och det är från det århundradet de äldsta bevarade harporna är daterade. De strängades med dragen metall, ljudet var som gjort för kyrkor och salar, för uppmaningar till dåd och för saltets processionsväg till middagsbordet.
