During recent years, the geopolitical landscape of Europe has been completely reshaped and the rules-based order has been put under immense pressure. Nowhere in Europe is this more evident than in Ukraine, where Russia’s full-scale invasion has continued for over four years. Throughout the war, the people of Ukraine have demonstrated determination and resilience in defending their country against Russian aggression.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, most EU and NATO members have pledged political and financial support to Ukraine, while also providing military equipment and other forms of assistance. As of today, a significant part of Ukraine remains temporarily occupied by Russia, and the war remains ongoing with no credible indication of an imminent end. Peacemaking efforts have faced significant challenges, ceasefire arrangements have repeatedly proven unreliable, and Ukrainian forces continue to defend their positions and resist Russian aggression.
What could a “successful end” to the war look like? Are there concerns surrounding support from European allies? And how has the war affected Ukrainian democracy and civil society?
On the 20th of May, Studentafton has the honour of welcoming Andrii Sybiha to Lund. The evening consists of one hour, including a speech as well as a conversation moderated by Karin Aggestam, Professor of Political Science at Lund University, followed by a Q&A session during which students can ask questions directly to the Minister.
