Konsertens titel anspelar på det återkommande temat i flera av styckena: människan som, genom bön, tillbedjan eller tankar, får någonting från Gud. Det där ”någonting” kan ta sig många uttryck – vinden och den Helige Ande i Vuojnha Biegga, förtröstan i Hear my Prayer, O Lord, friden i Komm, Jesu, komm, det eviga ljuset i Canticum calamitatis maritimae eller det heliga och jordiska som annonseras genom kyrkklockor i En Ego Campana.
Även meningen – eller avsaknaden av den – i Hymn of Axciom, kan tolkas i ljuset av det Gud ger människan. Den dubbla betydelsen återfinns i människosonen, temat i Komm, Jesu, komm, vilket öppnar för en alternativ läsning av konsertens titel.
The title of the concert alludes to a recurring theme in several of the works: humanity receiving something from God – through prayer, worship, or reflection. That “something” can take many forms: the wind and the Holy Spirit in Vuojnha Biegga, trust in Hear my Prayer, O Lord, peace in Komm, Jesu, komm, the eternal light in Canticum calamitatis maritimae, or the sacred and the earthly announced by church bells in En Ego Campana. Even the meaning – or the absence of it – in Hymn of Acxiom can be interpreted in light of what God gives to humankind. The dual meaning is also present in the Son of Man, the theme of Komm, Jesu, komm, opening the way for an alternative reading of the concert’s title.
